Dr Csilla Marianna Szabo has been working in different sectors of education or at organisations collaborating with education for many years. Graduated first as a secondary school teacher of Hungarian language and literature and Russian language then studied to become the teacher of English language and literature. In 2006, she began PhD studies in Eötvös Loránd University in the doctoral school of Pedagogy; she defended her dissertation in 2011. She started her career as a secondary grammar school teacher. In 2002, she changed her career and started working in higher education, János Kodolányi University, first as a language teacher then as a junior lecturer in Pedagogical Institute. From 2005 to 2009, she worked as a Head of School Centre of the university organising school and teaching practices for teacher trainees. From 2011 to 2012, she was the Director of a Regional Integrated Vocational Centre, where her job was to coordinate work in 12 VET schools focusing on maintaining two big EU projects.
In 2013, she became an associate professor in the Teacher Training Institute at the University of Dunaújváros. As a professor, she taught mostly foreign students, conducted scientific research, hold presentations at national and international conferences, wrote scientific papers, participated in Erasmus+ programmes, some of which resulted in international research. From 2015 to 2020, she was the Director of the Teacher Training Institute managing and controlling employees’ work, organising final state examinations, representing the institute in the management body of the university, keeping contacts with Hungarian and foreign partners, and planning the workplan and the budget of the Institute.
In 2021, she changed her job and since then, she has been working at the Hungarian National Agency, Tempus Public Foundation, as a senior coordinator being responsible for the National VET Team. In this position, she prepares the workplan and the budget of the VET Team, coordinates and monitors VET Team experts’ job, organises training and workshops for VET teachers, edits professional papers and booklets, participates in international research, and keeps contacts with national and international colleagues.
